COMPETITION OVERVIEW

TO ENTER

Who Can Enter: The Monument Circle Idea Competition is open to all interested entrants. Individuals, teams, professionals, students, artists and others are all encouraged to contribute their visions. Multiple submissions from any one individual or team are permitted, although each entry must be submitted under a unique User ID and will require a separate entry fee.

Application Process: All competition entries must be submitted digitally through the competition web site, www.monumentcircleidea.com. On this web site, you will be guided through the creation of a username and password, and through the submission process (see below for submission requirements).

Fees: There is a required $30 fee for each entry. At the end of the application process, all entrants will be guided through the payment process. All fees must be paid through PayPal™. Submissions will not be finalized until payment is processed.

Submission Requirements: All submissions must be submitted digitally through the competition web site. After being guided through the creation of a unique, anonymous login, competition entrants will be prompted to submit the following:

a. What is your entry's title?
b. Please provide a brief description of your proposal (50 words or less)
c. Describe your idea philosophy and vision for Monument Circle and identify key idea elements (500 words or less)

3. IMAGES

You are required to upload four drawings, renderings or images that illustrate your proposal. Any medium may be employed to produce images; clarity in communicating your scheme should be the goal. All submissions must be submitted digitally through the competition web site.

Required images include:

Failure to upload the required number and type of images will result in disqualification.

Up to four additional images are permitted, but not required. These images may include details of key idea elements (plans, sections, elevations, etc.), additional sections or perspectives or other representations that help communicate key idea principles or elements.

Files can be submitted in JPEG , PNG or GIF format. The dpi should be set at 72dpi, and each individual file should not exceed 5MB in actual file size.

PLEASE NOTE:
The top finalists will be included in an exhibition in summer, 2011. Please save a high-resolution version of each submitted image, as top entrants will be contacted and required to provide high-resolution images that can be printed to fill a 48" x 72" space.

Anonymity: the jury will review all entries anonymously. Thus, all submitted text and images must be free of any marks, logos, or writing that identifies authorship. The presence of any such insignia will result in disqualification. Deadlines: All submissions must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. (EST) on April 15, 2011, the stated deadline in "Schedule" section, below.

OWNERSHIP AND COPYRIGHT

All materials submitted to the competition become the property of the Monument Circle Idea Competition and Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. and may be retained for archival purposes and possible exhibition and publication as well as provided to the Scoping Team for their use. Each competition entrant will be given appropriate credit if and when submitted material is used.

AWARDS

Finalists will be included in a public exhibition in summer 2011.

Jurors will select first, second and third place winners. The community will select the People's Choice award during the public exhibition.

EXHIBITION AND PUBLICATION

The Monument Circle idea Competition will be mounting an outdoor exhibition of top competition entries in the summer of 2011 at Monument Circle. If your entry is selected for inclusion in the exhibition, you will be required to provide a high-resolution version of each submitted image to the Monument Circle Idea Competition.

The Monument Circle idea Competition will also publish the results of the competition online and potentially in print form. In any exhibition, publication or website, the Monument Circle Idea Competition will make every effort to properly credit the appropriate competitors. As the Monument Circle Idea Competition retains ownership of all competition materials (see "Ownership and Copyright" above), it reserves the right to utilize them in any publication or promotional endeavor in perpetuity and without compensation to entrants.
